HITSUZEN INC, A History

hitsuzen. noun. Japanese for ‘destiny’.

Unbelievable it may same but Hitsuzen Inc. was formed by the subtlety of fate.

Come October of 2009, a certain group of people with common interests, particularly anime and manga, dreamed to join an annual cosplay showcase in Lacson Street, Bacolod City in part of the Electric Masskara Festival. To have their dreams accomplished, they had to merge with Cosplay Bacolod, the group which pioneered cosplay activities in the city organized by Tinta Productions.

The group tried to contact Cosplay Bacolod but with some twist of fate, the latter wasn’t able to reply. Though, enthusiasm was great. The group was willing to cosplay no matter what, whether merged with Cosplay Bacolod or not.

As the plans flourished, more and more people were attached to the group. Ban, who was by then the most active in the group, was able to recruit a cosplaying group from the nearby City of Talisay to join the showcase (again, with some twist of fate courtesy of Plurk.com). The said group from Talisay was known as BluCrush Cosplaying Club and had been cosplaying for a year already headed by their team leader, Mao. With the joined forces of the two groups, the preparations for the Electric Masskara Cosplay Showcase were ready.

And thus, Hitsuzen Inc. was born.

October 17, 2009 was a blast. Hitsuzen Inc. cosplayers were finally exposed to public. And with the positive attitude of the crowd towards the group (against all odds), inspiration grew stronger and the group became more stable.

Here came the issue with ‘competition’. Since Hitsuzen Inc. cosplayed in Lacson Street as a new group, people couldn’t help but to compare the outcome with that of Cosplay Bacolod. Tinta Productions did have a cosplay showcase on the same date, but their number lessened compared to the previous year. Misunderstanding led to chaos and with the flooding word war in the internet, it seemed that Hitsuzen Inc. and Tinta Productions became mortal enemies.

But peace reigned, nonetheless. Hitsuzen Inc. was sorry for the prejudice with respect to Tinta Productions. The latter explained, on the other hand, that they were not able to respond to queries because everyone else was busy (as evidenced by their few members during the Electric Masskara). And they would have wanted Hitsuzen Inc. to join Cosplay Bacolod in Lacson Street, only if not of the hectic schedules. A meeting was held to settle the problem and all’s well ended well.

A series of Hitsuzen Inc. projects followed. The annual cosplay photoshoot in Talisay (organized by Mao) was a success. In Bacolod, a project called BLEACHED also had brilliant outcomes. As time passed by, more ideas expressed. A bright future for Hitsuzen envisioned.

However, with its members multiplying, Hitsuzen Inc. had to reorganize the group so as to control and manage the projects. Since majority of the members are from Bacolod and Talisay, Hitsuzen Inc. was split in two sister groups: Hitsuzen Inc – Bacolod and Hitsuzen Inc - Talisay.

Hitsuzen Inc – Talisay (formerly BluCrush) is headed by Liwayway ‘Mao’ Dais.

Hitsuzen Inc – Bacolod is headed by nine core members namely Steven ‘Ban’ Vivero, Elerem Bachoco, Mark Romulo Tumbagahan, Von Fritz Evangelista, Ma. Metuzellah Evangelista, Romel Concepcion, Razel Justado, Vench Joseph Magalona, and Pollen Natino.

Today, Hitsuzen Inc. strives to be known not just in the province but in the whole world. As 2010 enters, a series of projects are laid not just to promote cosplay but also to meet new friends and experience new things. And working along with Tinta Productions being the two most active cosplaying groups in Bacolod City to date, Hitsuzen Inc. will surely realize its dreams.

“Nothing in this world is coincidence. Only hitsuzen.”
